My purpose ― 2 min read

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the most important thing in this world was other beings. The connections we form and the interactions we have are far more important than anything else I can think of.

I have not always lived my life in accordance with that importance.

For a long time now I have really struggled with a sense of purposelessness - not really understanding what I am here for or what I should be doing.

One night recently I was journalling and accidentally discovered an answer that really seemed to fit.

My purpose is to bring increased positivity to the lives of others.

This means I want the majority of my interactions to end with everyone in a better place than they were before. I want to be a pleasure and a joy to be around and interact with. I want to leave this world a better place than I found it, for every day I live and over the course of my whole life.

I feel very drawn to this idea, it really seems to fit. If I'm ever stuck wondering what my purpose is again then I will remember this and check that it still fits, answers the question and feels like my calling. I certainly find being this way in the world the most rewarding and it brings me a lot of joy, so I want to remember it and use it as my guiding star for the decisions I make in my life. Perhaps this is what I've been put on this Earth for.
